Police in the US city of Cincinnati say they’ve responded to an active shooter situation at building downtown.
The Cincinatti Police Department said in a Tweet that they are investigating an “active shooter/officer involved shooting” at the Fifth Third Bank, which is located in the city’s Fountain Square, a busy meeting place.

Streets around the Fifth Third Bank at the city’s Fountain Square were closed Thursday morning and the area cordoned off.
A police officer at the scene told The Associated Press there are at least two, possibly more, people who have been shot.
Al Jazeera attempted to contact the police department for confirmation on the number injured, but they were not immediately available.
It wasn’t clear immediately if the shooter was one of the injured.
Controversy over mass shootings has been a motivation for protests over the past year.
A mass shooting in February at the Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which killed 17 people – mostly minors, spurred demonstrations across the country.
There have been over 500 mass shootings in the US in 2018, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a website that tracks gun-related violence.
Not all of these shootings resulted in deaths.
